THE BEST LOOKS OF MILAN FASHION WEEK 2020

During this past week Milan has offered us some amazing outfits. We have compiled some of our favourite looks from the Italian brands Autumn/Winter Collections that were shown at Milan Fashion Week 2020.

VERSACE

Show casing the numerous different facets the brand can portray, Versace presented a range of outfits from little black dresses to power suits, 80’s inspired fashion and much more, setting diversity and uniqueness as their theme for Milan Fashion Week 2020.

FENDI

Fendi brings outfits that empower women, with puffed sleeves and curved necklines, as well as different materials such as leather suits and velvet dresses.

MARNI

Maximalism is the trend at Marmi, who decided to present color-blocking dresses and to print together randomly created fun pieces for this Fashion Week in Milan. As for outwear, Marni surprised us with ankle-long winter coats filled with bold prints and colours.

PRADA

Prada played with the duality of masculinity and femininity, creating work suits for women with formal ties, turning basketball jerseys into dresses and ripping long skirts to show the models’ legs, demonstrating that even the more “manly” menswear can appear delicate and feminine.

JIL SANDER

Purity, not minimalism, is the way they describe their aesthetic. Which is fair considering the workmanship that goes into the silk fringing and the extensive pleating of the clothes they presented for this Fashion Week. Jil Sander created elegant, smart-woman’s clothes designed not to challenge but to flatter.

Young Irish girls’ view over the fashion world

Today, February 25th, we interviewed some teenagers in St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin.
We asked them about fashion: whether they agreed or not with our statement “fashion is very important nowadays”, we asked them about the shops they liked, the kind of clothes they looked for in a shop and if they preferred today’s fashion or the one’s of the past.

Here are their opinions:

We interviewed three 20-year-old girls from Dublin and we realized that teenagers follow fashion more on social media than in real life, in fact they all take inspiration from instagram and they don’t follow catwalks or the Fashion Week.

We learnt that Zara, H&M, Penney’s, Vintage shops and Second Handed shops are their favorite destination when they’re shopping, so teenagers prefer cheaper shops and don’t actually care about the brand. They all agreed with each other as they all said they liked 80’s and 90’s fashion as much as today’s fashion, because they said that it takes their inspiration from past years.

Then we asked “what kind of clothes catch your attention when you enter in a shop?”, and their answers were different.

Some of the teenagers like colourful clothes. Most of them aren’t dresses or skirts kind of people because Ireland is very cold. Others prefer sporty clothes like pattern trousers, jumpers or sweaters. We also learnt that some of them like unusual clothes, clothes of flares and puffy sleeves. They take inspiration from people on the street and their decision also depends on what are the trends at the moment.

SPORT MEETS FASHION AT CROKE PARK

New uniforms for the women’s Gaelic Football at Croke Park, Dublin.

These girls represent Dublin and to do it properly they need to be fashionable, not only strong.
Every year their uniform changes but the color remains the same: blue.

Croke Park is one of the most important stadiums in Europe and the third bigger in Eu. It is famous for Irish traditionals Gaelic Games.
The GAA (Gaelic Athletics Association) was found in 1884.

This year the designers who created the uniform, decided to listen to the players’ requests so they came up with this idea which is a simple blue uniform that allows them to be comfortable and look nice at the same time.

Blue isn’t the only color for the uniforms, every team has a different color that represents its county.
For example Galway’s jersey is white and red-brown, Mayo’s is green and red.

The situation in Milan has gotten worse. Schools, universities and public places such as gyms, theatres, museums and cinemas will be closed for the whole week.

Everyone is panicking, the supermarkets are empty, there’s no one around the city, people are staying at home. Masks and disinfectants are sold out in every pharmacy or they’re being sold at crazy prices.
